Trump Appoints Dr. Mehmet Oz as Medicare and Medicaid Administrator

President-elect Donald Trump has named Dr. Mehmet Oz as the new administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). In a statement, Trump praised Oz's extensive medical expertise, calling him the ideal candidate to address America's healthcare crisis. Oz, a heart surgeon and former television host, previously ran for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania in 2022 but lost to Democrat John Fetterman. This marks the third time Trump has tapped a media personality for a prominent administration role, following the appointments of Pete Hegseth as defense secretary and Sean Duffy as transportation secretary. Oz will collaborate closely with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who Trump has selected to head the Department of Health and Human Services.
