The 4B Movement: A Radical Response to Gender Inequality in the U.S.

The 4B movement, which began in South Korea in the late 2010s, is now influencing the U.S. The movement, driven by feminist ideals, encourages women to reject dating, marriage, childbirth, and sex as a response to widespread gender violence and inequality. In Korea, where gender pay gaps and violence against women are rampant, young women are opting out of relationships with men to avoid further harm.

This radical feminist approach has now spread across U.S. social media, especially after the 2024 presidential election. Many American women, particularly younger generations, are drawing parallels between rising misogyny in the U.S. and the experiences of women in Korea. While it's unclear whether the 4B movement will take root in the U.S., its message of bodily autonomy and the need to protect women’s safety is resonating deeply in a politically charged environment. If this movement continues to grow, it could reshape not only political landscapes but also the way American women approach relationships, marriage, and family.
