Small Plane Crash in São Paulo, Brazil, Claims Two Lives

On the morning of February 7, 2025, a small plane crashed in São Paulo's Barra Funda neighborhood shortly after departing from a nearby private airport. The two individuals on board, pilot Gustavo Medeiros and aircraft owner Márcio Carpena, were confirmed dead at the scene. The aircraft was en route to Porto Alegre in southern Brazil.

The crash occurred on Avenida Marquês de São Vicente, a busy avenue near downtown São Paulo. A piece of the plane struck a bus, injuring a woman inside, while a motorcyclist was hit by another piece of wreckage. Four additional individuals sustained minor injuries and were taken to local hospitals. Images from the scene showed the plane's fuselage and the bus on fire, with firefighters working to extinguish the blaze.

Governor Tarcísio de Freitas expressed condolences to the victims' families and praised the swift response of emergency services. The Brazilian Air Force has initiated an investigation into the cause of the crash.

This incident adds to a series of small aircraft accidents in Brazil in recent years, raising concerns about aviation safety in the country.
